- Wednesday 1st February
Brian Kelly the Education and Community Outreach Officer for Dundee Heritage Trust gave an excellent illustrated talk “South with Scott: the Discovery and Terra Nova expeditions”. The talk looked at Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s expeditions to the Antarctic, first aboard the ‘Discovery’ from 1901-1904 and then on the ‘’Terra Nova for the ill-fated 1910-1912 attempt on the South Pole. The talk also covered the local Angus connections with Scott and his friend and colleague Dr Edward Wilson, who was to die with him on the return from the Pole€¯. Over 50 folks attended this talk.

Dr. Robert Drummond from Ayr will give a talk on Kirrie’s Post Boxes
With the aid of slide illustrations and using the post boxes of Kirrie
and its surroundings as a point of reference, Dr Bob will outline the history and various types of Royal Mail post boxes and their makers.
Some less common or particularly unusual boxes to be found in the East of Scotland will be identified. He will also talk briefly about overseas boxes.
There will be time for questions and discussion. Those attending are
invited to bring along any photos or memories they may have of postboxes.
